The Sierra Nevada Mountains of Santa Marta are home to many indigenous communities. These people have lived on the mountains for thousands of years. Much of the mountain is designated as their territory and it is not possible to own land above 600m as this becomes national park.
Our farm is situated at 250m above sea level and touched the edge of the Indiginous community of the Kogis. The Kogis wear white clothes and can be found farming the lands of their ancestors.
Their lands have always been sacred places and they maintain a spiritual connection to the mountain which is channeled through the Mamos.
The land of our farm is becoming part of a larger conservation project championed by the UN and with the full support of the land owners to protect these lands with unique bio diversity.
